As a former barista who is still a Starbucks regular, I’ll choose solidarity over slaking my thirst on 11/13.

Also, there need to be more unionized stores in NJ.

Anyone frustrated by the warehouse boom in NJ over the past few years should be concerned about the potential for a data center boom over the next few years. Imagine a giant warehouse that also extracts endless electricity and water resources.

This is the book that has me thinking about this:

Willie James Jennings commenting on Acts 14, which is my text for this morning:

“Violence is in the world that God never ceases to love, and the disciples are placed between that violence and those subject to its pull.” (1/2)

Apparently, you can polish your shoes! And it’s actually kind of therapeutic. They aren’t perfect, but neither am I.

The school year may begin now.

This part here is the ideal toward which we should strive. But many simply do not believe in such concern for others.

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” -John 13:35

“…and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.” -Rev. 22:2

Preaching on Acts 8 tomorrow and this commentary by Willie James Jennings on the Ethiopian eunuch and Philip is so great. As a Presbyterian, this emphasis on freedom and the complex identities of disciples is refreshing.

What is this garbage? Can’t even read the news anymore without being required to agree to a mile long list of nonsense. And I guess my high school students can’t view CNN news articles or videos anymore since most are under 18 (see second image).

This is stupid.

These are not my underlines/notes, but here is where Stout discusses religion and political discourse in his introduction. See top of pg. 10 especially.

Jeffrey Stout in Democracy and Tradition. It seems to me that this disaster has occurred. How can “the people” be reconstituted?

*Digital highlight is mine. Pencil is in the library book. Who does that!?!
