Oliver Stone is an incredible filmmaker and he’s made some iconic movies. Agree about JFK. His book “Chasing the Light” is a good read. Matt Zoller Seitz’s “Oliver Stone Experience“ is also a fascinating third person pov on his life and filmography. Saw him speak with Ron Kovic at UCI in the 80s.

Yeah I upgraded my old iPad to a newer model and lost it for good. Devastating loss. Rumor has it there are pdfs out there…but the newer issues in that app had some great interactivity.

I worked with Karen Ansel in LA at her company Mobility in Matthew Barney’s “Cremaster 2” in 1998 I think. We used an early release of Shake on that show and output stuff in 1080p at the Sony High Definition center in Culver City. After working in Comptime at ILM Shake’s nodal UI was a revelation.

I loved working in Shake. I was excited when Apple purchased it and devastated when they EOLd it. Nuke is great too, but I’d love to have seen Shake continue development and grow into a robust compositing system. It had an indisputable logic at its core. Great to see Ron’s original sketches.
