Catching up on all the blind spots I have in classic American cinema. Tonight was North by Northwest. Crop Duster sequence, even though I knew what was coming from seeing it out of context, had me freaking out. Master of suspense, baby!!!

Timothee Chalamet singing on SNL is the most egregious use of “I need an Oscar” marketing I’ve maybe ever seen. And it’s cool. Good for him. I’m not hating!

Safe and evacuated. Walking out of our apt to see the Hollywood Hills on fire, 12 or so blocks away, was something else. Cinematic for lack of a better word? Helicopters flying overhead, dumping water. Embers from the fire flying in front of my face. Prayers up to those impacted.

Fully believe in the indie film boom that will happen in the coming years. Audiences want thoughtful and risky cinema. Studios are becoming more and more conservative with their output.

Challenging myself to read 100 professional screenplays by the end of 2025. In doing so, I hope to share some lessons learned along the way. If anyone wants to join me, feel free and use the hashtag #100Scripts as I’ll be using it to help keep track!

Sharing a small win of killing my darlings. Was obsessed with a few sequences in my slasher script. Turns out they didn’t fit the story whatsoever. Just cut 14 pages out and we’re at a lean 92 pages. #ScriptSky

Reading Alex Garland’s 28 Days Later screenplay. As a blind read, I don’t know how you could put this thing down. Hell, I’ve seen the film a million times and I can’t stop. The script nearly demands you to turn each page, search for more answers. Goals, obviously #ScriptSky

Quick shoutout to @chadmichaelward.bsky.social for his notes on my latest script. In-depth, actionable notes that’ll help me moving forward. And one hell of a writer!

Had what one would call a religious experience witnessing Interstellar in IMAX once again. 10 years ago I walked into a theater and my life was changed for the better. This time, hit tore at my chest even harder. Love is most powerful thing in this universe.

Not trying to start discourse or whatever but if I see any up and coming screenwriters (or anyone for that matter) using AI for their concept art or posters I’m blocking them. It’s all “AI is taking our jobs” unless we’re talking about graphic designers and concept artists, huh?

So many. The most notable being Dawn of the Dead (2004). It was my hill to climb. Each time I attempted to watch it, I backed out because it was so scary. Finally got over it and rewatched it whenever it was on. Owe my love of horror to it and the works of M. Night Shyamalan.
Did you watch R rated movies before you were 17? If you did, do you remember what your first R rated movie was?

Mine was Starship Troopers. Not sure exactly how old I was but I couldn't have been older than 11 based on where we lived
