@hankgreen.bsky.social have you ever heard of the Dubai Lamp? They're LED bulbs made by Philips only available in Dubai. They're ultra efficient and run off 1 or 2 watts. In the west they overvolt them to lower their efficiency in order to sell more bulbs.

I just watched a fantastic interview with Guy Fieri. He said he'd've quit his show a decade ago if it weren't for his show changing the lives of the places he visits. They don't make lots of money and the promotion by Fieri brings in so much money they get sent to a new economic class.

God the Warhammer 40k books are such a chore to read. I got into the hobby in June and I want to get into the lore but the books are such a slog. Right now I'm reading Eisenhorn and I'm about 6 chapters in and I already want to ditch it.
