A bit ago, I was in a gas station market w/ my wife, when I saw one of the local right-wing, nut job podcasters in line behind us.

We finished our purchase, the clerk told us to have a nice day, and I replied, loudly, "thanks! We are late for the Antifa meeting but it should be a good one!"

I have not logged in to Twitter for a very long time, but I did to see if this is a real tweet by the Department of Energy, and it is.

Just... wow. On the surface it appears to be posted by morons (which also may be the case) but I suspect this has more to do with oil money than stupidity.

When you are of a certain age, the Amazon "We found something you might like" emails are a reminder that perhaps you don't live quite as exciting a life as you used to.

I was at the courthouse next door today. The media was everywhere when we arrived! I had no idea this was happening until we asked one of the reporters.

One of the Sikorsky helicopters that is helping with the Palisades fire has been pulling water from the lake we live on. The sound in the video simply doesn't do the roar of these machines justice. I'm so thankful for these people that are trying to keep us all safe.

I've received quite a few messages from friends around the country asking if we can see any of the helicopters or airplanes working on the fire. I just took this video from my house....

LA is not OK
January 9, 2025 at 3:41 AM
Winds are starting to calm where we are (Malibu Lake) so I think we are going to be okay. This is the view from Mulholland looking West, and my heart is broken for everyone who lost a home; I personally know several people who did. #PalisadesFire

No fire threat to our home overnight, although we were up a lot as the helicopters grab water from our lake, or stage at a nearby State Park. I'm happy to lose a little sleep as a trade off for the amazing work of the first responders.

Also, State help has arrived.

Updated view, about 30 minutes ago from roughly the same place. Flames clearly visible now. #FranklinFire

Just went up on the ridge above our house. It's not right on top of us... but still entirely too close. #FranklinFire

I did, but he just looked at me like, "can't you see I'm licking my butt? Let me be, human".
