The Japanese Imperial Navy in WWII resorted to coercing and shaming pilots against will into the planes and only giving them enough fuel to get to the target, but not enough to fly back. Gengis Khan had any deserting or non-combative soldier beheaded in public. But restraints? Ultimate malevolence.
