I wouldn’t trust a scab as far as I could kick them. So yeah, I trust the NEC over scabs.

There was nothing in the NUM constitution demanding a national ballot thus the elected NEC voted against holding one, instead the ballots were held regionally and locally.

There was nothing in the NUM constitution saying a national ballot was needed. There were local ballots across the country, the miners voted to go out on strike. Running round in circles frothing at the mouth about a national ballot doesn’t remove the fact miners voted to go out on strike.

There were ballots all over the country and miners voted to go out on strike. It was democratic, just clearly not the democracy you choose to believe in - which is unsurprising for a scab.

What part of there being ballots are you not understanding? As for the rule of law, workers are allowed to withhold their labour, and many of our anti-trade union laws actually break international law regarding the right to strike and be in unions but you know, you keep banging the scab drum

There wasn’t a requirement at all, there were local ballots, it was not an illegal strike in any sense regardless of what the court said, the legal system was hardly at its peak during the 80’s.

No the NUM didn’t need to have a national ballot there was no constitutional need for them to do so. There were ballots across the country. And there was one region who took money from Tory donors to set up a scab union.

Except there were ballots, 73% of Nottinghamshire Miners voted not to strike.

There were ballots across the various regions, there was not a national ballot. If there was, doesn’t mean the Notts scabs would have paid any attention to it.
