It’s only flat out of Twin Lakes. It’s definitely not “almost flat”. It’s a difficult climb up to Hope Pass out of Twin Lakes headed south. It’s the high point on the Leadville 100 run (they go over it twice). My profile pic is up on Hope Pass. I don’t remember a lake up there but may be wrong
