Flower moon over Fort Worth.

They should call it the mosquito moon for how many of them are out at dusk this time of year. Was not prepared for the onslaught. Nevertheless managed to capture the moon behind the 777 Main building downtown - one which I’ve not had the chance to feature before. Enjoy!

It’s not *if* there will be a good sunset in Fort Worth - it’s when. And, of course, where you will stop and take it in.

I’ve captured the Space Station transiting the moon before, but I’ve not yet attempted to photograph it as it passed in front of the sun. Since investing in a solar filter last year for the solar eclipse, I figured I’d give it a try. It turned out pretty well!

He is risen indeed! 🙌

Happy Easter, Fort Worth!

When the sun sets, something beautiful rises.

April’s Paschal Moon rising behind Pilgrim Chapel at Dallas Baptist University. The Paschal moon is the first full moon after the spring equinox and determines the date of Easter the next Sunday after.

In loving memory of my friend, Josh King.

One year ago today all of us in DFW were losing our minds as we took in one of the most amazing astronomical sights to behold: a total solar eclipse.

Luckily enough for me that day I managed to grab a passenger airplane transiting the moon during totality too.

Core memory.

How do you prefer your Texas bluebonnet portraits: with dramatic sunflare or soft evening glow?

Springtime in Texas means wildflowers and wild weather. Fort Worth has had a great view of both over the last week!

Watch Fort Worth glow in the sunset as it fades into night.

Ah, first bolts of the season! 🌩️

Fort Worth, Texas

Every once in a while, the best view of the sunset is found by looking east. That was the case yesterday evening as the sun cast a soft glow on the high clouds over the city.

Storms with hail and strong winds erupted over Fort Worth and Dallas yesterday evening and put on quite a show. This is a time lapse of two separate storms I shot from my back yard. Spring is back!

You just never know what the light is going to do. Best you can do is be there to take it in and watch what unfolds.

Last few shots from the lunar eclipse.

Last night’s total lunar eclipse over Fort Worth, Texas. Thankfully there were enough breaks in the clouds to be able to catch a glimpse!

Still processing lots of images; more to come!

Got 30 seconds? Here is yesterday evening’s sunset over Fort Worth. Notice the very thin crescent moon setting next to the planet Mercury above it. Enjoy!

It’s been a challenge to get out with the camera this month for a variety of reasons, so I was glad to be able to capture the thin crescent moon rising next to the Tarrant County Courthouse earlier this morning.

The @iss transits the moon Sunday evening just after sunset - allowing the ISS to remain illuminated as it passed in front of the moon.

Been a long time since I’ve been able to capture a transit, so I was pleased to come away with a crisp and clean shot.

The two brightest objects in our night sky were hanging out over the weekend. I intentionally over-exposed the scene hoping to capture the light being refracted in the clouds. Surprised by how much color the camera picked up and how it makes the whole scene look like some kind of deep-space nebula.

Angelic skies in Fort Worth last night.

January’s full Wolf Moon rising behind the angels of Bass Hall was a beautiful sight to see.

I was hoping to post this after a Longhorn victory and return to the natty, but it was not meant to be this year. Congrats to the Horns on a good season. (And a little reminder that TCU remains the only Texas team to win a CFP semifinal 😉😈).
