My employer has added a role that I now report into, which is based offshore.

Does this give an indication of the progression opportunities available for UK based staff working for this UK based company with a customer base that is 100% UK based?

Maybe I am reading too much into it though.

Why are Sonos products such a royal PITA to get set up. I won't make the mistake of buying another one

Each video seems to be a revelation to me, for example how did I not know this method to get the next square number?
Today's date, 9/25/2025, is probably the last date of our lifetime where the month, day, and year are all square numbers 😱 The next time this will happen is on 1/1/2116.

Fellow parents, can we all please unite and agree on the rate the tooth fairy pays?

My daughter has asked why she gets different amounts than some of her friends, and I am not sure how I am going to explain it tbh.

I may have to rectify this with a tooth fairy audit that corrects underpayment.

Something about a terminal in light mode makes me unreasonably uncomfortable.

Not sure if my son is a genius or idiot but he has just wrapped spaghetti and mashed potatoes around a fork and cracked on.

That is all

How much solution detail do you like to see in a dev ticket?

I find detailed solutions frustrating as this is often not the best way of solving the problem.
Solutions at a distance are ok but with "create table x with columns y,z" I wonder why I am involved at all.

Thoughts?

Battlefield 6 is looking really good.

Spent lot of time in BF3, by far my favourite of the series. I found the more recent games lost something, if anything they had too much of what I didn't want.
Similar thing between halo 3 and the later games.

So far BF6 looks to be what I like.

The fear some reviewers can have of repeating code.

"We have a package that does that in our nuget feed, why re-implement it?"

I need 6 lines, not an added dep, the dep usage doesn't fit this current code so would need to rework the project to fit, etc etc

DRY is poor advice if taken literally

When I was young girls didn't have the opportunity to play football. Now my daughter has seen our country become back to back European champions.

Congratulations Lionesses, great job.

Getting c# to work nicely in neovim is proving to be a pain. I am using the csharp-language-server and it struggles finding definitions and implementations.

I am pretty sure it is a skill issue on my part when setting up my config.

I saw this last night and couldn't believe it. It must be one of the greatest saves the sport has seen. Absolutely incredible

I am finding that working with macros in Rider and IdeaVim to be painful.
It is usually things like the auto complete getting in the way, or closing braces being automatically added but that action is not replicated in the macro as there was no keypress involved.

I have come downstairs this morning to find my 8yo daughter watching "My Neighbor Totoro".
