Five sentences by Karen Russell is enough backstory for anyone: “I sleep in my dead mother's childbood bedroom. Every morning I wake up and I don't know where I am. Then I remember and I wonder, Where is my mother? Then I remember more and I want to be dead. Then I go outside and I play basketball.”

Working on making my characters less and less relatable, with the end goal being total inscrutability. Promising results so far.
