This is a great piece on athleticism in sport.

The ability to decelerate is never spoken about but could it be as important as the ability to run fast.
Somebody on Twitter sent me this a while back and I've been thinking about it ever since.

Athleticism is misunderstood and poorly defined. Players like Dončić and Harden wouldn't succeed without being elite athletes. We just have to rethink what athleticism is.
According to experts, Luka Dončić is an elite athlete — should we reflect how we think about athleticism?
Sports medicine experts have Luka Dončić "off the charts" in athleticism metrics. That begs the question: do we need new ways of thinking about athleticism?

I would be more worried about Liverpool long-term if they don’t offer Salah a renewal. It means they have a clear strategic plan and the long term sustainable future of the club comes first.

This sounds distinctly like the Aubameyang deal to me.

Everyone thinks their guy is different but playing FOR your final contract vs playing OUT your final contract have proven to be completely different things.
If the Salah deal comes down to probabilities, what is more likely? That he can sustain this level for three years, or that Liverpool can sign a new attack to replace his level
Hard not to feel the former - Salah keeping going - is much more likely

Why Salah is the exception to the rule in Liverpool’s contract dilemma
The Egyptian forward scored twice in the Reds’ win over Southampton before revealing he is still no closer to extending his Anfield stay beyond this season

Something tells me that Bournemouth and Newcastle were this seasons West Ham and Fulham and now we are ready to go on a fucking mental run.

Apparently Pep new contract has no relegation release clause.

Maybe he views the Championship as his best chance of becoming an Invincible.
November 20, 2024 at 12:14 PM
The Pep news to me is pure optics.

They want people to think they are getting away with 115.

They want team to re-motivate.

Perception is reality.

Might have to do an analysis of the Tottenham Hotspur rebrand.

Will aim to be as impartial as a PGMOL referee from Stockport.

Am sure I can manage it.

I would love the landscape to be shared with the fans post Kroenke approval. Nothing more powerful than having everyone aligned around the mission.

Gazidis made Bayern Munich reference all those years ago. What do we want to go and achieve now.

Different disciplines but they need to be the same organization to avoid a blame culture.

High performing organizations have always melded individuals with different strengths and objectives into coherent teams.

As always - it’s about working together in pursuit of a common goal.
One of my ideas for better officiating is to split VAR and Refs into separate organizations. A driving force for this idea is quite simple: A punishment for on-pitch referees is to be put on VAR duties. It's a PGMOL punishment for ineptitude.

Separate them; they're different skills.
