We need to be clear as a country: no one should ever be encouraging violence against anyone. This is especially true when it comes to LGBTQ+ people, whose lives are too often marked by violence and fear of violence.

Politicians and homophobic commentators will have us believe trans+ people are leading this violence against women. Meanwhile - the real epidemic by straight violent cis men continues as it has for centuries…

📊 Infographics: Why Open Rebellion Harms the Labour Government
Rebel Labour MPs have inflicted political and economic costs by forcing a retreat on flagship welfare reforms.
This thread explains why that matters. 🧵

Labour’s internal row on welfare reform has dominated headlines. These infographics demonstrate how public divisions risk damaging perceptions of leadership strength and economic credibility. These matter for voters. They also shape the space a government has to act.

📣 There’s been a lot of briefing against Number 10 Chief of Staff, Morgan McSweeney, but if he were to leave the centre of Labour’s government operation, it would be a serious loss for the party.

🧵 How could the welfare bill be defeated?

The welfare bill vote could be close due to Labour rebels and abstentions, testing Starmer’s government unity and economic credibility. How MPs balance rebellion or abstention will shape political and market actor confidence. A key moment for Labour’s future.
Infographic: How could the welfare bill be defeated?
With 237 opposition MPs set to oppose the bill and 39 Labour rebels confirmed, the government’s working majority is slim. For defeat, around 87 more Labour MPs would need to abstain—a delicate balance that could determine the bill’s fate. This vote isn’t just policy detail; it’s a test of Starmer’s government’s discipline and economic credibility.

Strikingly odd photo.
A visit to a military barracks is usually a textbook opportunity to project strength, leadership and seriousness on national security. So why pose holding a gun — seemingly aimed towards a soldier?

Political imagery matters. Especially when you are trying to be the next PM.

🚨 With over 120 Labour MPs backing a key amendment to welfare reforms, the political pressure is mounting.

But don’t overlook the economic pressure facing Labour — it’s just as real, and just as unforgiving.

Let’s talk about fiscal rules 🧵👇
