A good day, and a very long walk
Apple fitness award for closing all my rings for the 500th time Exercise minutes record set today of almost 4.5 hours Various stats on my 4.5 hour workout. Including burning 1430 active calories. I want to say thank you for everything you've done to serve our community - I truly believe that you have been a great ambassador for Beaches East York, and for the Liberal Party. I have voted for you several times, and I say that as someone who generally aligns much more closely with the NDP. I am writing to you out of genuine concern today because I believe that your team is missing a massive opportunity with regards to the approach you've taken with Canada Post. The strike may not be successful, but regardless, it is making the choice to only look at CP as a cost centre/failing business look short sighted. Simply cutting a major part of the service and shuttering rural offices while throwing dedicated union members out on the streets is not only not in line with Liberal values, it is uncreative and lazy thinking. Please, I would urge you to communicate with the caucus about the value of taking a more imaginative approach. Transforming Canada Post into a true nationwide communications and community service could be a centrepiece of building Canada back and not only competing with the US, but doing it with a compassionate and truly Canadian approach. Canada Post could be providing wellness checks, rural wi-fi, low cost banking, food security, electric vehicle charging, social service support, and so much more. It could be the backbone of a National Service plan. It could take advantage of its massive footprint of offices and vehicles, and be a force for good in this country. Just as the CBC unites us culturally, Just as public transportation and roads unite us geographically, CP would unite us economically and socially. I urge you to look at https://www.deliveringcommunitypower.ca/our_plan, it is a good start (imo it doesn't actually go far enough) and would make a great feel good story for your party that many would rally behind. Austerity isn't the answer here, courage and creativity are.
