I've received questions about possible CBP/ICE near Steve's Garden Mart. Hillsborough owns the facility next door, which Durham County Sheriff's Office was using for training today.

My statement on CBP operating in the Triangle and resources if you know someone who is detained.

I'm no fan of fall, but there's something peaceful and serene about a chilly fall morning in Downtown Hillsborough

You know what's amazing to me? People I know who for a fact had public benefits when they were growing up but are against them as adults. I'm proud that my state and country invested in me with pre-k, Medicaid, SNAP, and housing vouchers so I can be the person I am today.

I really appreciate my friend AG Jeff Jackson for coming to Hillsborough to tour the effects of TS Chantal and his suit to return FEMA BRIC funding to towns like ours.

This July 4th, we celebrate freedom, but we also fight for it.
Justice, equity, and democracy aren't guaranteed.
We must keep working to make them real for everyone.

Honoring the legacy of freedom and resilience this #Juneteenth. I'm proud to have played a part in making this powerful day an official holiday in Hillsborough as just one step forward for recognition, remembrance, and ultimately justice.

Hillsborough (pop 10k) had a monster turnout of at least 1200 to loudly proclaim #nokings ! ✊🇺🇸
June 14, 2025 at 7:10 PM
Tomorrow I'll be at the #nokings protest at the Historic Courthouse in downtown Hillsborough at 11am. I hope you'll join me and millions of others around the country protesting in support of liberty and freedom.

What's going on right now in LA and all over the country is what dictators do. It isn't what is done in the name of a freedom loving, democracy supporting people.

Wonderful to be at the groundbreaking for Auman Village, a new Orange Habitat affordable housing project in Hillsborough! Approved in 2020, the Town Board recently dedicated $100k a year for 4 years starting next fiscal year. 🏡💰🪏

Thrilled to attend the investiture of Justice Allison Riggs as she formally took her seat as an ELECTED justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. After 100+ days the will of the voter PREVAILED.

If you see these folks around Town today, stop by and say hello! They want to get your thoughts on parking in town as part of a parking study.

Touching moment last night as Mayor Mark Bell read the proclamation in honor of former Mayor Horace Johnson, Sr with his son Horace Johnson, Jr present. Mayor Johnson was a trailblazer and a visionary who will be missed.

Today, from the Carolina coast to the Blue Ridge peaks, we honor those who gave their lives in service to our country.

From Ft Bragg to Camp Lejeune, and every quiet memorial in between, NC remembers.

Let us carry their legacy with resolve, gratitude, and purpose.

Great turnout at yesterday's Tea with Lee Smith (and Hal Crowther) at the Burwell School. It's always a pleasure to show off the school grounds with my fellow Historic Hillsborough Commissioners, especially to a sold out crowd! 📚

Great to stop by the LCV Green Tie Awards this evening. Now more than ever we need to stand up for our environment when it is under threat by an Administration that believes in neither science nor keeping our land, water, and air clean. #environmentalprotection

Wanna know what we discussed at Monday night's Town Board meeting? Well here you go! I'm proud that we are going to be diving deeper on housing as part of an all of the above housing strategy that can possibly keep folks in their homes *and* create more units.

Before Jefferson put pen to parchment, North Carolina lit the fire. 250 years ago today, the Mecklenburg Declaration boldly claimed independence and over a year before July 4, 1776. Don’t let the day end without honoring this defiant spark. #America250

Thoroughly enjoyed participating on this panel on criminal justice and education for the NC NCAAP prior to the start of its advocacy day. I was proud to bring my perspective as a town commissioner, who also happens to serve as Third Vice President of the State Conference.
