Considering this lazy with technique is just misinformed. This is very well timed and coordinated in order to not be a travel

I think announcers often do a disservice to fans and players by not covering how meticulous these borderline travel moves are. I know before FIBA games US guys would often talk/walk through moves with refs to make sure they were legal in the refs eyes before each game

Personally I think it’s awesome that there are legal moves where if you have the proper ball control and footwork you get rewarded. It also makes the game more free flowing and fun to watch

They started counting while the ball was spinning, which is before he gathered the ball. The count begins when the player gets possession not when the ball comes bounces

I used to agree with your take but I’ve learned a bit more from informed people on basketball rules. Basically before he brings his second hand on he could continue dribbling without it being a violation so it’s legal. This vid can be helpful (if you’re interested) youtu.be/J5xGKioMsIo?...

I think this is either legal or very close. Gather step happens when he grabs the ball (it’s spinning for the first few steps so he hasn’t gathered the ball). Usually refs count the gather when the other hand hits the ball which is left foot down, giving him two more steps making this legal
