I am so impressed with and grateful to my son and his classmates for their willingness to use their voice and advocate for an important issue.

It’s an important reminder that our children are (mostly) paying attention to what we say and the values we demonstrate on a daily basis. 7/

The students presented statistics on the economic benefits of NIH funding to our state of Pennsylvania and how educational institutions that rely on NIH funding are some of the biggest employers in the state. 6/

My son’s group met with Senator Dave McCormick and his office. My son suggested the group talk with Senator McCormick about the NIH budget cuts and spending freeze.

This week, my 15 year-old son visited Washington, D.C. for a school trip. During the trip, he and his classmates had the opportunity to meet with an elected representative for their community and discuss an issue.
