yes, written into structured segments of an hourly television broadcast designed to keep a specific market demo, who access that content via monthly cable subscriptions. These anon content farming accounts just need random posts to attract eyeballs. They are structured by different modes of audience

demographic: seniors. Even in the digital age, television follows a broadcast model where one sender--the network--addresses a mass audience of viewers. Social media does not work this way, there are masses of senders and masses of receivers. Individual posts are the goal and model

I study right wing media professionally, which means I watch a lot of it. Those shows are designed to keep viewers tuning in regularly--they develop characters, have long-running bits, repeated segments, and inside jokes that encourage repeat viewers. That's b/c cable TV is designed for a specific

It’s very different—television viewers are chased over years which means you need consistency, they age through demographics designed by the broadcasters and their advertisers to keep them watching. These guys are just printing money with whatever sticks

Like Rod Dreher, her weakness is that she is a true believer. The way she describes the fallout with Trump sounds like a religious conversion—I think that commitment is actually not all that common on the right, who are so often motivated by ressentiment and reaction

Yes that sounds right, it’s very European. Vance is enmeshed with that global right project in a way Trump is not, as well. But that’s kind of what I’m getting at: I don’t think this is going to work the same way. It’s an import! We can’t even make our own racist myths here anymore lol
