You should do it. The 9070 XT is solid for gaming. It's just not working for me in DaVinci Resolve but it works for gaming and AI workloads.

Haha. I get full access to a few racks in our development and production environments. I'm running workloads on them right now!

This is not knocking the Framework Desktop. I still use it every day and will continue to use it.

I'm waiting for them to resolve the PSU noise issue and have an active ticket open with them.

The other two issues would be great to resolve in a refresh or 2nd gen.

PSU Noise: There's a periodic, annoying, whirring resonance from the PSU fan

5 GbE NIC: It's the limiting factor in my 10 GbE network

PCI Slot: It's not exposed on the case

Even if DaVinci Resolve worked tomorrow I would still choose the Framework Desktop for its size, power, and performance.

It does, however, have 3 fatal flaws.

The 9950X3D build is better performing than the Framework Desktop but I have a few problems with it that make the Framework Desktop the better choice.

Size: That ATX case is massive
DaVinci Resolve: The 9070 XT doesn't work on Linux

Thank you. Gotta let people know I see their shenanigans.

It's their forum but they have a community marketplace section for this.
November 14, 2025 at 4:14 PM
Haha. Both, really!
November 14, 2025 at 4:14 PM
Ah yeah. That totally makes sense. Maybe in the future!

Pulumi and Terraform both carry the same problems of state management and tying everything about infrastructure to a source control change.

System Initiative has great AWS support and is working on Azure support now. They have a different paradigm of infrastructure management.

That explains why I don't remember ATL airport much.

Meanwhile I'm wearing a t-shirt walking to the conference center for KubeCon.

Totally. I thought I had an extra one lying around but I don't. I'll go door to door begging for a GPU lol.

It's weird. I want to see if I can snag a gfx1100 discrete GPU like a 7800XT or something to test. Would hate to buy one and return it.
