SB 1123… sorry early morning haze! It amends the starter home revitalization act (SB 684) which basically copied LAs small lot for 600 SF lots in MF zones to allow 1200 in R1! Went under the radar… we’re about to launch a starter home ordinance doing for-sale ADU, this and more! We should catch up!

I think the planning approvals are averaging 40-45 days. But doubt LADBS was issuing permits in 15 days…. They can definitely turn around a plan check in that time but there’ll almost always be corrections needed. Then clearances from other agencies.

Do kitchenettes (vs full kitchens) trigger any other requirements? In LA it turns an apartment into a hotel - requiring a CUP and banned in lower density multi family zones (although new zoning code changes this citywide and and new housing incentive program legalizes this for senior housing)

That is…. Not a good ratio for a growing city IMO. Conversions from MFD to SFD have basically been illegal in California for years BTW -
