It’s at the point that it is unserious to think baseball is a competitive sport. It’s simply not. In the last 30 years only two teams in the bottom half of the payroll have won the WS.

For the 2025 season, the Dodgers have spent a record half-billion dollars on player salaries, benefits and luxury taxes. Their tax payment of $138 million exceeds the Opening Day payrolls of 13 MLB teams last season.

I’m saying your romanticized picture of equality is basically irrelevant in the modern music scene. Phish isnt doing anything unique. They arent anti-equality (as your language seems to suggest), they’re just a successful band that is moving with industry trends. Gizz and Neil are rare exceptions 🤷♂️

I’m saying basically everyone in the industry does it…so why target Phish? KGLW seems to be singular in a whole lot of ways. And, yes, Goose is among the worst offenders with VIP early entry. At least Phish does the (still problematic) lottery.

I also think a big part of it is the Phish experience has become so stratified between the haves and have-nots with VIP packages, Platinum tickets, walking in the rail riders, etc. Equality breeds community, and modern Phish doesn’t believe in equality for all fans.
