They had given a $7,500 deposit to the Buffy actress. It’s so bizarre that they would make a commitment like that for a Star Trek con. Spending money they didn’t have to get less than 200 attendees in the end.

Hey we fell for it too. We filmed his wedding for free. We gave his family a million photos from the Quaker wedding after. We believed in the mission and by default trusted the man. Brings me zero joy to be right here.

I would absolutely do a chargeback to your bank and do it ASAP because if he already doesn't have money and he gets the chargeback penalties it's just going to take him more into overdraft territory. So the earlier you chargeback the better.

I went in 2023 as a volunteer filming the event and they had maybe 200-300 attendees. He loves to blame the DEI crackdown but the fact is he just sucks at marketing. You have to promote to local people not just on national pages. Jeri has to have top shelf con agents I’m shocked they didn’t check.

He didn’t post for 13 days before the event was canceled, so he knew it was coming but waited until the last minute to save face and that harmed attendees even more. Had to scramble to try to cancel flights and hotels, time off work, it was a mess all around. Then he ghosted them for two weeks.

This email exchange says a lot, he was going to pay the 2023 debts with Kate Mulgrew sales from 2024. If you’re always using next years money to pay for last years mistakes (he never did) then you’re always going to be behind and it just changes who the victims are next year. Yet he lies and lies.

Someone asked him if he had a timeframe for the refunds and he refused to give a window. Now he’s restricted his Facebook so people can’t ask questions and blocked hundreds of people so his PR will look good. He does this to control the conversation.
He owes over $10,000 still to 2023 A/V vendor.

If you go to Charity Navigator you get a warning not to donate to them because they are delinquent. They owe $25,000 to people from their 2023 event. The promoter bans anyone who is even a tiny bit critical so people don’t see everything he has done. 17 board members resigned after the 2024 D&I.

It’s wild to me that their status can be delinquent and they just keep on operating in violation of the law. They’re so small though no one is really jumping to take action on them. Their status will be revoked again this year.

I'm really glad no one was hurt this time, but you can imagine these devices are now the target of every foreign intelligence agency if they aren't inside them already. This is a special level of stupid.

That's great news. I'm told there are 6,000 families with already approved Section 8 vouchers who have nowhere to spend them, so hopefully more places like this open up soon!

Yea and even then, I use the voice isolator and the deflicker sometimes but those are the only two pro features I’m married to. Used free version for ages.
