A Fate’s Tale Matthew was a skilled photographer and freelance journalist from Ireland. His heart was always drawn to the Earth's beauty, immersed in the flourishing forests and blooming gardens Mother Nature so graciously offered. Matthew had always dedicated his life to the preservation of nature via media awareness. Many admired his work, finding his joy for life refreshing. However, after a sudden maelstrom struck New York, his journal entries grew grim, and the public began to worry about Matthew’s sanity. Now, instead of reporting on life, he reported on the harsh reality of death and what comes after we meet our inevitable end. Many entries included depictions of ghosts and claims of speaking to people beyond the grave. Few believed him, but the truth was that a burst of magic had granted Matthew an eerie gift: the ability to perceive the spiritual realm, for he had become partially phantasmal himself. Now, he could hear the desperate cries of dead souls trapped in the astral realm. Their pained pleas only broke his poor, sensitive heart. Though he vowed against violence, Matthew found himself fighting—not for his own return to normalcy, nor to rid the world of the wandering spirits. No, he fought for their freedom. His only wish was to soothe their sorrow, to guide them into the comforts of the afterlife. For no soul, living or dead, should ever be bound by torment.
