biker, camper, skier, hiker, accountant, business owner, husband, brother, father, friend, not necessarily in that order. Proud UDMercy Titan, Fraser Rambler and native Detroiter.
Americans love speed, and what I fear happening is that our serene bike/pedestrian trails will be taken over by e-motorcycles with pedals. The same reckless nonsense we have to deal with on roadways and highways is coming soon to a bike path near you.

I recently drove from GP to W Bloomfield via 8Mile and Telegraph Roads. The number of lanes, the volume of cars essentially all going the same places was shocking.

I asked myself "who thought this was a good idea? Did they envision this auto-overloaded mayhem during planning and construction?"

Maybe the reason is that you can be fairly sure that a licensed plumber knows that hot is on the left, cold is on the right, and 💩 flows downhill. On the other hand, a CPA license doesn't guarantee expertise in tax in general or specific types of tax like trust or partnership.

Riding a bike brings me joy. Enjoy!

SUVs of the bike world is not a positive reference. Everything that's wrong with American vehicles and roadways are embodied in today's SUV; too big, too heavy, too expensive, overpowered and threat to smaller vehicles and pedestrians.

Kids don't have any money, therefore kids can't hire lobbyists.

Money, that's how the system works.

You're going to enter a world of pain, son.
We know that this is your bike lane.
We know you painted those lines.

Right on cue, the front page of this week's church paper. Our small urban parish provides food for over 60 families per week from the surrounding neighborhood.

My expected tax savings will go to local charities that provide medical care and food assistance to those who've had their benefits reduced to pay for my "savings"

Does the path go all the way around the island?

You did 35 on an e-bike, I did 20 on a me-bike.

Municipal golf courses are a great vehicle to expose the less affluent to the game of golf. The more municipal courses that can be preserved the better, IMHO. Chandler Park, Rogell, Rouge Park are still around. Unfortunately, Rogell and Palmer Park are gone and not coming back.

Parking meters are an enforcement tool to keep parking spaces open for businesses. Wait until everyone in the neighborhood finds that there is unlimited free parking on Jos Campau, those same business owners will be clamoring for "enforcement" on the vehicles parked in a spot for weeks at a time.

Posers everywhere

Truth. You have to be slower than the motorists to see how many of them roll through stop signs too.

Have you tried lowering your seat? That would effectively raise your handlebars. I know, I know, you'll lose efficiency, but riding in an uncomfortable position is not efficient either.

Have you gone to a trusted bike shop and asked them to adjust your fit?

I think that's it. I'm out of ideas.

Spot on man, riding a bike is so much fun.

I tilted the seat back and flipped the stem. Raising the handlebars a bit and angling the seat back seems to get me a bit more upright and takes some pressure off my shoulders.

I am also practicing riding no-handed, that completely removes pressure on my shoulders.

I got this new bike a couple of years back, it was a little more of a forward lean than my classic Miyata. I was slipping forward on my seat and putting too much pressure on my shoulders, after hundreds of miles my shoulders began to ache.

They do increase efficiency, but at my age and ability I am not sure the increase in efficiency is worth the loss of safety and enjoyment.

I switched to platforms a couple of years ago. I realized that all of my mishaps, and some of others mishaps I have witnessed were caused or contributed to by not being able to put a foot down.

It was a little weird at first, but now I would never go back.

The greatest marketing achievement of the 21st century is the branding and classifying of e-bikes as bicycles.
