Well, Dalgliesh just gets better and better. This adaptation of Cover Her Face took the basic elements of PD James' novel and made them its own, so that the themes of the book became relevant both to its period and today. And it did so with such class and style. I hope we get another series.

Just catching up on Dalgliesh. Superb opening to series 3, and Bertie Carvel's interpretation of the poet detective is becoming definitive. Superb adaptations of the compelling novels from the great PD James, herself a strong influence on my own writing. Here's hoping this series continues...

Currently watching Nigel Havers in The Charmer (1987), based on Patrick Hamilton's novels. I remember watching this when it first aired and loving it, and it is still superb. Havers is chillingly brilliant as psychotic con-man Ralph Gorse. Brilliant stuff.
