Worth noting the differing responses from Reeves and Rayner

Take this instance, only 3.6% of voters (under the threshold) in West Scotland voted Lib Dems and now they have a Lib Dem MSP.

The Greens got roughly 2x as many votes but now have as many MSPs representing the region as the Lib Dems.

I prefer this system over FPTP but like all there are flaws

That's true I suppose. My is if you defect to another party, you should call a by-election and allow the voters to decide.

I know there's no legal obligation to do so other than to satisfy the grumbling of some random on bluesky.

But hypothetically, how would it work on the list (cont)

While they are elected in their own right, is it not more difficult to call a by-election against any individual elected on the list compared to that constituency?

So if something scandalist was to happen by a list MSP, how would you get rid of them?

That needs to be fixed surely? I support Greene for defecting but list MSPs are elected through people voting for the party compared to the constituency MSPs who are elected on an individual basis.

(I understand people voting intentions is more for the party than the individual in constituency)
