Yes unprintable mostly. A RAF Station Commander would routinely be "The Staish" , sometimes even to their face. Like all these things the terms change over time and what I remember is probably passe.

"Top Brass" is a term you will never hear in the Armed forces. You'd get laughed out of the Mess for saying it.

The commentary was always the best bit. Aimed at the parents. I remember watching with my boy, both beside ourselves laughing. He's a full grown man now but we still drop the occasional bogey.

I'm trying to remember now which of my cars was the last to have a manual choke. Possibly the Austin Metro in the mid 80s
