“Oh my god . . . I have no words.

This is an achievement of a whole society.

I am just, you know, one person.

I certainly do not deserve this.

I’m honored, humbled.

I’m very grateful on behalf of the Venezuelan people.”

the yankee starter is tossing a gem, looks like boone’s bringing him back for the eighth.

so refreshing to see a pitcher go deep into a meaningful game.

kay is really a downer.

he seems to have forgotten that it’s about the game - not him.

i read nearly all of his novels in my twenties and really enjoyed them.

twenty-five years later, they don’t have the same appeal.

but i enjoyed reading FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS in my forties and still adore THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA and his NICK ADAMS stories.

he led a difficult life, no doubt.

raleigh reaching 60 homers changed my mind.

judge is a better hitter (BA and OPS), but raleigh’s gotta be the AL MVP at this point.

i mean, a catcher has hit 60 homers - and perhaps a few more - for a winning team!

had the privilege of seeing nolan ryan pitch a few starts after his 300th win.

he beat the twins, and i can still hear the sound of the ball hitting the catcher’s mitt.

what an athlete.
