Making art and writing words for books since way back. Also, I like plain spaghetti. Butter and salt, of course.
You'll want to watch this.

MY NEST OF SILENCE
"Faulkner presents an ingenious hybrid format... stupendously draws Mak’s experiences as a Japanese American soldier... Deftly combining the personal and historical, Faulkner alchemizes his extended family’s past into magnificent, essential testimony."

A work-in-progress for my illust.d novel-MILO'S BRIDGE-about a young artist in a world where drawing is illegal. This is a friendly Stopper; that righteous, happy crew who are sent by the Kindness Council out into the community to catch artists and teach them the error of their ways.

If any public K-12 school presents material to students that involves DEI (read- material on white racism that might shame fragile American white folks) then all federal money will be pulled from that school.

I knew the quote, but not the history.
The author, German Lutheran Pastor Martin Niemöller, was a national conservative, a supporter of Adolf Hitler and an antisemite during the 1920’s/30’s. He opposed the Nazification of the Lutheran church and was imprisoned by the Nazis from 1938-1945.

Shared MY NEST OF SILENCE with older elementary school kids today. Thought they'd appreciate learning about this-
120,000 (half were children) Japanese Amer.s put in prison camps during WW2 because of their race by our white, racist government.
They appeared to be very interested.

This is our guy, Sugar.
He wants you to know that he's thinking about you and hopes you can get some happy going for yourself today. Even just a little is good.
That's the type of guy he is.
Also, he is rather large and this is a pretty small basket.
So, there's that, too.

Sound familiar?

The Japanese American Imprisonment during WW2-
Imprisoning families, children, the sick, orphaned infants, elders- this is what happens when paranoid, entitled white America decides that their security overrides the security and rights of non-white Americans.
