Just another conscious animal.
The point is that if the chants were against muslims they would have been addressed at the college level. It wouldn’t have needed congressional hearings, thankfully.

Those societies work by slightly enlarging the concept of self. From one to a few dozens or few hundreds. These enlarged selves are still distinct from one another and way more prone to conflict with their kind.
Collectives are incapable of assembling into a coherent government.

If it wasn’t for capitalism we would have a smaller circle of caring. People don’t care about others unless their needs are met first.
Only in a capitalist society people have the privilege of wanting to be in a socialist society.

Your reading comprehension is very low.
And all of this is probably coming from an asshole who isn’t even vegan.

If you are aggressive in the process, yes. Try to de-escalate.
And please, do without the “lmaos”. They look so silly.
October 26, 2023 at 6:55 AM
You are doing the same thing.

I’ve always found disturbing how on the left side of the political spectrum people condemn their religious people and have sympathy for other religions, even if they preach objectively abhorrent things according to modern moral standards (treatment of gay people, abortion, apostasy…)
October 17, 2023 at 2:35 PM
I agree with that take.
A moral framework is a set of instructions, “software” if you will, that is followed for societal coherence.
Religion has been a useful technology to maintain acceptable coherence with low specs individuals.
But like all technology it can be used improperly and gets outdated.

Yes, I miswrote
October 17, 2023 at 1:58 PM
A particular “religion”
October 17, 2023 at 1:57 PM
We were talking about religion.
October 17, 2023 at 1:55 PM
I didn’t move any goalpost. I just explained the flaws in your thinking.
You don’t seem to think from first principles.
October 17, 2023 at 11:51 AM
There’s no religious belief that doesn’t influence behavior. The active/passive distinction can be brought up only by people who haven’t ever thought about these subjects.
Conscientious objection in medicine is passive.
October 17, 2023 at 10:39 AM
The line that separates the two is arbitrary.

Caring about the “sanctity” of life and advocating for the abolition of abortions is passion to some and zealotry to others.

You haven’t spent much time thinking about these things.
October 17, 2023 at 10:19 AM
🤦🏻‍♂️ do you realize that in the context of “belief” the two things are separated exclusively by an arbitrary line?
“Belief” by definition doesn’t require rational thought. Passion for the absence of rational thought is indistinguishable from zealotry to an arbitrary observer.

Star Wars doesn’t claim to be a moral foundation.
October 17, 2023 at 9:06 AM
You tell me what is the difference if not an arbitrary level of adherence to a (bad) set of ideas.
October 17, 2023 at 9:04 AM
The lack of critical thinking is what led us to the moral hellscape we live in today.
Adopting pre-packaged sets of ideas is what is wrong with society.
October 17, 2023 at 6:15 AM
If passion for a particular thing is bad, how can you conclude that the thing is good?
October 17, 2023 at 6:11 AM
Isn’t it a complete moral failure to outsource your ethical framework?
October 17, 2023 at 6:03 AM
But we all agree that all religions are bad, right?
October 16, 2023 at 11:06 PM
I don’t see how your post relates to the image.
October 16, 2023 at 7:39 PM
If you examine the world through the lens of a pre-made set of ideas you are doing it wrong.
You should build your framework from first principles.
October 11, 2023 at 3:34 PM
An ideology is a pre-packaged set of ideas.
Yes it is wrong to be ideologically driven. It means you haven’t thought for yourself.
October 11, 2023 at 7:18 AM
If you understand those things you also understand that billionaires aren’t a problem per se. Hatred towards billionaires in general is ideologically driven.
