It makes me wonder how much scarsity is due to this fact, and how much the cultural obsession with "fairness" based on labour and an imagined "contribution" to society is getting in the way of actually making life better for everyone, even the middle-managers whose lack of purpose is also painful

Ok, if Bungie is taking steps to adress, that's good, I did not expect them to nor see anything towards that point. Hopefully it gets fixed internally, I just don't exactly tend to have any faith in companies doing the right thing if they can brush it under the rug for less cost instead.

Doesn't matter, vicarious liability applies. The company is liable for the actions of their employee, for not being stricter on this kind of behaviour internally. Hopefully if they get sued, they'll be in the future, fostering a situation where artists can contact the company before it gets to this.

in 10 years i have never made a consistent income from this work and i am tired of designers from huge companies moodboarding and parasitising my designs while i struggle to make a living.

i don't have the resources nor the energy to spare to pursue this legally but i have lost count of the number of times a major company has deemed it easier to pay a designer to imitate or steal my work than to write me an email.

bungie is of course not obligated to hire me when making a game that draws overwhelmingly from the same design language i have refined for the last decade, but clearly my work was good enough to pillage for ideas and plaster all over their game without pay or attribution.
