I don't even need the voices to be the actors from the movies. I'll take interesting or bonkers one-offs over having the live-action actors voice the animated versions.

I'll agree there. The one-offs from the first two seasons were much better. I thought What if Howard Got Hitched was a very fun episode and overall enjoyed 1872. This felt like a “We are ending the series so we have to wrap up The Watcher’s story” situation.
