Those whippersnappers have laser cutters… all their models smell like a bonfire.

This kind of article is why I let my 10+ year subscription lapse and read the @newyorker.com instead these days. The time for “both sides” among people who should know better ended years ago.

The frustrating part is people like this are being so handsomely rewarded for their work (of questionable value) that they do this for 15 years and then “dabble” in some other not-profitable thing (Open a restaurant! Develop an apartment building!) and architects have to deal with them as clients.

Saw so many shows there during my years at UC, late 90s through early aughts. Would’ve been at that GBV show but I was on co-op. Such a great venue.

I just reread an email from my friend my Scott from 2000 relating how hard GBV rocked at the Southgate House in Newport KY and how Mr. Pollard was handing out beers to people in the front row who “didn’t look drunk enough,” but that he, Scott, must’ve looked sufficiently drunk.

Not joking, they should tear down that price of garbage they’re building and use it as a side yard for this.

Was trying to figure out if this was the fabled show where I saw Jason Molina open for Will Oldham at Southgate House in Newport KY (which def happened, but I've never independently confirmed), but it seems he was in Holland at the time.

I actually have a CAD block identical to this (probably the same block?) I picked up from a former coworker, and you enter the number values in a dialog box that somehow makes it very unclear which is which. I always double check it.
I can DM you the dwg. Ha!

I’m embarrassed to admit that I remember a “Who is ‘lease a Catera?’” Ad campaign. Didn’t realize that was a rebadged Opel.

Never knew Opels were sold in the US.

Well they just went to commercial in this miserable Eagles-Cowboys to the tune of How Soon is Now, so the NFL is still hitting you where you live.

This was excellent.
Unfortunately I suspect trying to win this particular type of “pastor” over with the reasoned arguments of a British high church Anglican academic is probably not going to meet with much success!

Correct, over the years I’d simply come to rely on the default filters, which categorize somewhat arbitrarily but generally keep junk out of the main inbox. Currently doing a lot of unsubscribing!

I have realized that I’ve officially vacationed in Virginia Beach enough times to have a pretty good idea where the “Pho restaurant on General Booth Boulevard,” is located.

Also WTAF? Maybe me and my brother are doing a bit in the Pho restaurant?! Absolutely bonkers sh•t that they’re prosecuting.
