We also need some more specific fixes from @nyc-dot.bsky.social, like making the bridge on E 14th St (between Aves H & I) bike- and pedestrian-only, to cut down on aggressive drivers speeding down quiet neighborhood streets to avoid traffic lights and speed cameras.

To actually make these streets safe and friendly for all, @nyc-dot.bsky.social needs to include the neighborhood in a city-wide network of protected bike lanes and protected intersections.

While tonight was particularly bad, intentionally dangerous driving like this is typical, and these streets aren't safe even when drivers are being normal. It really sucks that @nyc-dot.bsky.social scaled back the bike lanes that were supposed to go in here this year.

One driver who didn't immediately have space to pass us started honking and shouting that E 15th St is a "car road".
October 21, 2025 at 2:11 AM
On our way back, no less than four drivers aggressively close passed us at speed, just to end up waiting at the red light at the end of the block (or one block further ahead, in the case of the driver who also ran a red light).

Looks like they were making way for some sort of construction. Hopefully it eventually turns into a usable bike lane, but I don't have my hopes up yet...

Tonight, @liz.nyc instead went with "Knights of Cydonia", which doesn't actually mash up, but does have relevant lines like "I’ll show you a god who falls asleep on the job", and "Don’t waste your time, or time will waste you"

Wrong answer: walk each borough's Broadway.

Not quite a 🍞, more of a 🫓.

Might even work as anti-self-driving-car art!
