so we can get more objective about loudness related decisions and better describe the curvewe're perceiving in our heads. The parameters for this stuff are very well established, why doesn't this exist yet? Somebody go make this already and get rich.

to more accurately describe the actual perceived loudness of a recording. I feel like someone should create a "critical band" based meter which approximates our psychoacoustic tendency to shift critical band center frequencies to target the loudest frequency components...

and a crappy high shelf above 1k, in an attempt to approximate perceptual loudness as we perceive it. I understand a sone meter would require too much DSP to be integrated as a standard into distribution and whatnot, but that doesn't stop its application in studios...

but I don't see why it couldn't be scaled to describe the loudness of a mix or master in the digital realm.
It uses different weightings for each critical band, as opposed to the LUFS meter which is only weighted via a highpass above the bass range (lol)...

They're somehow incredibly intuitive, but also have one brain cell rattling around in there like a ping pong ball in a clothes dryer.

But would ultimate truth ever come in the form of something heavily marketed by podcasters/youtubers? Think about the type of things that get heavily marketed by them and how plenty of those things end up.

Idk, nobody is neutral anymore, there’s way too much to gain out there.
