We used to holiday in Norfolk as a kid and he would tell me of his
Coastal Defence work and the places he knew and had been stationed. He also served down in Cornwall during those three years and could navigate there without a map easily into the 1990’s.

My father was stationed there, and also in Blakeney in Norfolk, on coastal
defence from 1939-41. In 1942 he was deployed to Burma returning home in 1946 a full year after the wars end.
