Mourinho with Marinakis at Forest would definitely be more fun for the rest of us

Different Reece James, plays for Rotherham now

I don't know of any Chelsea fan that wants him! Most think he would be a disruptive influence on the squad, add very little quality, and block the path of other players. Completely unnecessary signing.

Sesko last 2 seasons in Bundesliga: 27 goals
Jackson last 2 seasons already in PL: 24 goals

It really isn't that different in quality, and that's before you consider all of Jackson's other attributes. Tired of the narrative that he's useless, and do feel like Sesko has been prematurely over hyped.

Thanks, this is a fair correction to my overstated point. That has generally been my experience though of the term 'cultural Christianity' in particular, and it annoys me because it becomes the dominant understanding of Christianity in UK culture. When really it has almost nothing to do with Christ.

Thanks, I'm sure my career of working in the UK helping churches engage with peace, justice, refugees, inequality and climate change has done plenty to enable Donald Trump.

Or perhaps the literal point I was making is that's a bastardisation of Christianity?

There is a world outside of America.

As a Christian I really hate that label. It's code for "I want an English conservative heritage whilst conveniently ignoring all of the progressive implications of the Gospel. Or actually believing any of the truth claims of the faith."

Oh, and as others have pointed out, "I hate Muslims".

You're spot on, and I'd argue that given those are the players that haven't worked out, to only have a loss of 22m is actually not bad - think of the memes about players being stuck on 10 year contracts.

Of course you'd have to accept the premise of buying those players in the first place...
August 7, 2025 at 7:20 AM
Fair enough, but you know from harsh experience that the strikers market this year is mental. And if you get £150m+ for Isak, every selling club will add a hefty chunk on to their asking price. You may not have many better options.

I suspect they may sell at around 60. Ultimately we don't have to
August 6, 2025 at 9:25 PM
As I said, I don't agree with how the club has gone about things, but that is the reality of modern football. I don't particularly enjoy needing to engage with this stuff to follow my team, but it helps to find method in the seeming madness.
August 6, 2025 at 9:22 PM
I don't agree with everything the club does! But I will accept we have better options now than we did last year.

Unfortunately football is now played on balance sheets and Chelsea seem to be doing that very well unlike Newcastle... so I understand the willingness to sell if there's a willing buyer.
August 6, 2025 at 7:29 PM
I'd be sad to see him go, his profile is unique and having all three options for different tactical needs would be amazing (if greedy). But, if they can double what they paid for a player who hasn't 100% convinced, these SDs are taking the money every time.

Also not everyone agrees with me.

CFC fan here. Look at how bad Palmer was when Jackson was injured last year - he actually made Palmer better by making space, stretching play, link up etc.

Yes the erratic finishing is frustrating but he still scored 30G (no pens) across 2 seasons in an inconsistent team.
August 6, 2025 at 1:39 PM
For a then 22yo at just 32m, adjusting to new league, much bigger club and new position, that's really good. Anyone comparing him to Hojlund (who cost over double) has only watched funny highlights of bad misses, not full games.

I think he could do well at Newcastle and would be sad to lose him.
August 6, 2025 at 1:33 PM
I know scoring goals is the main thing, but he's actually been good at that too: 30G (no pens) across 2 seasons (inc. injury) when he'd only had half a season playing LW before joining us. He has been undisputed #9 leading line for a sometimes dysfunctional team with no competition until now.

I'm very positive on Jackson. Very few forwards stretch the play and carry the ball like he can, and it's no coincidence that Chelsea's form (Palmer's in particular) fell off a cliff when he was injured last year. Managed to split defences wide open, especially when we played chaosball under Poch.
