Blue Mesa has some beaches that can be pretty photogenic. Winding shorelines and driftwood when the light is right can make for some great subjects, especially in mono.

Nice. I know this perspective well. I'm also within three hours from GSDNP and try to get down there every so often myself. I'd like to try a little backpack trip sometime. Maybe this spring...
