I feel like poor areas were more likely to have “what have I got to lose” voters who are anti-incumbent whenever the economy sucks for them. People who voted for Trump last year who voted for dems in 2020.

That's the Pope's whole deal. He meets with prisoners and asylum seekers and disgraced conductors to demonstrate Christ's boundless compassion.

This is a fun story because it makes developers feel superior to others who are generally considered the cream of the crop.

But it doesn’t sound like the engineers I know at Meta.

In a past life I witnessed some deeply conservative think-of-the-children types rush to defend their friend who had admitted (in court) to preying on 10-year-olds. The us-vs-them thing is stronger than any supposed moral stance.

I’m all for more AI-generated pupils

I think you’re missing the more obvious tell that it looks exactly like what an AI would generate if you asked it to create a beer jacket. Note how the guy seems entirely subsumed by the frothy golden beer. It’s like those AI pics of wild salmon that show smoked salmon cutlets jumping out a river.

Reasonably sure this is AI-generated but whatever, nothing matters now

I think we can get so caught up in the torrent of shit from the administration, which comes at us from every direction on social media if we let it, that we make America’s recent past into something much rosier than it deserves.

I think things are bad but they were much worse 20 years ago when we invaded another country, with 80% of the US in support, and when mass incarceration was seen as good policy, and when a bunch of state flags included the confederate flag, and when gay marriage was illegal in most places.
