I wonder why, if the building responds to the changing environment, the floor plates rotate at a different speed / orientation. Surely it would not change silhouette, would just rotate (I mean it's obvious balls for a wide range of other reasons)

I just remembered being asked to do the Hokey Cokey around that time at play group. I had never heard of the Hokey Cokey, and found the experience very alienating

I used to work for Caroe & Partners, with people who knew Martin. Really interesting when I read this and saw amount of stuff that was at a point cutting edge conservation and now mad, e.g. mixes he suggests gauged with cement. Met stone masons brought up on this book and still holding true to it.

Similar to those US traditional buildings, where you can see all the historic references, but thrown together without any appreciation (not that I don't kind of like it)
