Hello from Gunbarrel Hill, and the Boulder County Fire Central repeater. And the WIØA repeater. And a great bike ride from Erie.

So let’s see, we are going to borrow $2.4T at poor interest rates, and give away $3.7T in tax cuts, primarily to the most wealthy Americans, while we are charging everyone more because of Tariffs at a point where we are trying to recover from inflation so the Fed can lower rates.

Ham friends: in the event I receive one of these fine power amps for my IC-705, where in the Boulder Colorado region might this best be put to use? I’ve got an EFHW antenna rated for 50watts I can set up in a tree. My first thought is the triple junction near deer Mountain and Trail Ridge Road.

I’ve modified the GigaParts modular backpack, adding a more robust tactical belt as a hip strap. It’s very comfortable, and adds some hip pouches for quick-access items. I’ve also added some molle accessories including a handheld transceiver holder, water bottle holder, and a mount for my CW paddle.

Sad day for NOAA, and the Country: 800+ DOGE’d.

Here in Colorado, Amateur Radio Operators have helped NOAA monitor severe weather conditions as part of its weather spotter program.

Last week the spotter classes were cancelled. This week firings.

Better up your weatherproofing game people.

I’ve succeeded in sending a readable CQ (seek you) call at 19 words per minute with my dad’s old Morse code key. My guitar-playing reflexes are helping a lot!

Hiked up Green Mountain near Boulder yesterday and made radio contacts using Morse code across the country. A temperature inversion kept the cold air and clouds on the ground. The peak was sunny and warm.
