Financing a V8 truck at 20% APR just to commute to work is economically dumb but plenty of people still do it. I totally agree that an EREV makes logical sense but in the real world people will not use them in the way that is most beneficial.

Agree completely. Setting up L2 charging is "too expensive" and "too much of a hassle" when you can just keep filling up with gas. L1 is "too slow" and on a truck won't get you very far.
