EU might be a slow starter as all democracies are, but when the engine starts moving it will be very difficult to stop. Europe has a lot of production facilities. To claim that EU is in denial is just not correct. Look at the major changes already in the Nordic and Baltic countries and even Germany

I would say that no one in Europe who thinks normally would claim that it is possible to establish peace with Russia with sacrifice of territories. It gives the beast appetite and several neighboring countries has experienced this over the centuries all the way back to Ivan the terrible.
