It definitely says something about the calibre of the current group of ministers.

They may be 1 or 2 credible backbenchers. But becoming a minister requires a 6 months break before taking certain jobs (ACOBA rules). With a GE on the horizon,…….

I’m still edging towards a huge loss for the Tories at the next GE. I can’t imagine the remaining Tory MPs (whose political makeup is still up in air) being receptive to her shenanigans.

Well they deserve what they get. It’s not even the biggest issue amongst Con voters. The idea you can navigate a GE campaign whilst ignoring cost of living, NHS, housing….. is insane.

I assume they will propose leaving ECHR. If so, how will they resolve the NI GF agreement quandary?

This is absolutely crazy. A snap ‘small boats election’ would be catastrophic for the Tory Party (on a Canada 1993 GE scale).

I maintain that the scale of the (presumed) defeat will play a vital role in determining the Tories next leader. The political makeup of post GE Tory MPs is still up in the air.

Also, picking a leader who wasn’t a key figure in the current government must be an attractive option.

I’ve being saying the same thing. No one knows the scale of defeat for the Cons at the next GE. Whose to say the ERG wing of party will be dominant.

Also, I imagine an candidate with no ties to this current gov would be an attractive option.

I think it’s completely in the air and is largely dependent on the scale of defeat at the GE and the political makeup of remaining Con MPs.

I also imagine the remaining Con MPs would want a new leader with no connections to the current government.

I genuinely intrigued how much you think the setup costs of a ‘new’ or ‘radically different’ national health care service would actually be.

I reckon Sunak is to a large extent uninterested in Immigration, gender, sexuality…… if he has any interest in these matters, then it’s through the prism of economics. He’s a Chancellor pretending to be a Prime Minister.

He’s wonderfully sinister in “Sweet Smell of Success”.

Is there any evidence that he’s great at diagnosing problems? I’ve always thought he was a modern day carpetbagger who read a couple of Game Theory books.

Richard Evan’s interactions with him are priceless:

I don’t think an excel spreadsheet was needed. If you played Tag on the school playground, you pretty much understood how things can spread.

I find his complete lack of self-awareness so depressing.

I occasionally wonder if I’d be a capable PM. Two seconds later I quickly realise I’d be a useless PM. He seems to have skipped the self assessment part.

And don’t forget Perfume (formed by some members of Blab Happy). This song is such an underrated gem:
