Today while boiling sap into maple syrup, I saw and heard a mixed flock of canada and snow geese, and later heard and saw a handful of sandhill cranes 👍🏽

My sister shared this photo taken by a pilot en route from Anchorage to McGrath. The line in the photo is the Iditarod Trail. This could lead to a very bad fire season in AK. 😕

This weekend we stomped a trail in our snowshoes and excavated the stones we use as weights for our sap buckets in preparation of sugaring season.

Nice afternoon in our wood lot with Jon, Aaron and his friend. We cut two of the five trees we fell earlier in the month and stacked them so that they can start seasoning for next winter 🔥

For Aaron’s 16th birthday I made him a men’s qiipaghaq which is traditionally all white. I added the decorative black trim to give it some color. Happy birthday, son. You are now a young man.
