Infographic reads: Pledge your support for racial equity in JCPS. Don’t let politicians from outside Jefferson County change policies within your school district. A new bill titled the Kentucky Education Equality Protection Act (Senate Bill 165) will end all Racial Equity related work within JCPS if passed this week. If passed, this bill could: reverse gains made on improved graduation rates, post secondary readiness, and test scores. Close the clothing assistance program. And assistance to homeless and foster care students in JCPS. And all “literacy&” summer camps. And minority and woman business enterprise initiatives in Jcps. And advocating for and recruitment/retention of diverse teachers principles, counselors, and various support staff. And the work of Jcps S diversity, equity and poverty department. Force the closure of WEB Dubois, Academy, and the grace, James Academy of excellence. Make organizations like black student unions, Hispanic student unions and GSA illegal. In a new paragraph it reads: because of racial equity Jcps S has virtually eliminated the graduation gap between black and white students to less than one percent difference and the overall graduation rate is 88% for black students. Overall test scores in reading and math have improved among all demographics and all grade levels since the move to the current accountability model, new post COVID-19 Jcps has made these tremendous gains without engaging in any of the discriminatory or preferential actions SB 165 seeks to ban here is what you can do to make a difference: email Robert Stivers: Robert.stivers@kylegislature.gov; David Givens: David.givens@kylegislature.gov; Max Wise: max.wise@kylegislature.gov; Mike Wilson: Mike.wilson@kylegislature.gov; Robby Mills: Robby.mills@kylegislature.gov and tell them in your own words why you do not want DEI work to end in Jcps S. Please refrain from sending harassing or threatening emails. 2. Show up in Frankfurt. Check the Legislative agenda online.

I’ve drawn a Gingerbread Man cartoon as a holiday card for the last 17ish years. It usually reflects current states of mind. Here is this year’s. Click, zoom in, etc. for full experience. Alt text included!

Ach. Still mad! I just want to go avenge Joni Mitchell and anyone else Wenner deems “not at the level”. Blech.
Image is a screen shot of the transcript of the NPR piece. It reads: WENNER: Joni was not a philosopher of rock ‘n’ roll. She didn’t, in my mind, meet that test - not by her work, not by other interviews she did. DEGGANS: And even the interviewer scoffed at that notion.
