I'm using some of the short stories I wrote as scaffolding for #NocturneCage as extra content on my substack. The original version of these shorts was world building. So they're full of info-dumps. Having to go back and edit them in order to be proper short stories is interesting.

Em dashes are a great way to control sentence pacing and make easier to read certain kinds of complex sentences. Another place they're very useful, is in dialogue. They can show natural stop/starts, or speech interruptions.

I truly love that writing gives me flexibility to adjust my schedule due to chronic illness flares.
However, I also wish I didn’t have flares. My body woke up today and chose vertigo. It would not bother me one bit if it made better choices. 🫠
