I bought a Bombardon (or Helicon). I needed to keep it somewhere so I hung it on the wall in our bedroom.

Just arrived home from a conference in Verona about Hannah Arendt's conception of revolutionary councils as a form of government. I heard some great papers and had many engaging discussions. What remains interesting about Arendt's work is that it brings together such a (politically) diverse crowd.

... now I still need to learn how to play a valve instrument (which will be challenging for a slide trombone player).

Important to repeat this, especially today.
A world without war continues to be an ideal worth aspiring to. But it must be a world without nation-states and their so-called 'leaders.'

Yesterday evening the great Manu Chao performed in Nijmegen... and I got to play a few songs with him (on trombone). Needless to say, it was like an old teenager fantasy that suddenly became reality.
Thanks to Manu and his wonderful band and crew for the great show and for being so welcoming.

Happy Mayday! If you happen to be in Nijmegen (NL), there will be a local protest march for international solidarity (e.g. with Gaza and Rojava) and against capitalism and the crackdown on protest. The march starts at 18:00 at De Grote Markt. More info: grotebroek.nl/may-day/

Finishing the copyedits of an edited volume on "Communalism as a Democratic Repertoire," which I co-edited with Gaard Kets. With contributions by Martin Breaugh, Ruth Kinna, Dario Azzellini, and many more. If all goes well, this should be rolling off the press by August this year.

Also: this is the aesthetics of 21st-century fascism. "Bomb them to pieces. F*ck yeah! 'merica!" Look how we settle shit over a few tweets or app messages.

The current extreme right government in the Netherlands wants to cut 1 billion euro on higher education. This week staff members and students of universities across the country have been on strike to protest these plans. Money for schools and education - not for bombs and occupation!
