read this and had a full epiphany that ai has simply trained all these idiots to give it easy prompts.
I was trying to win over a friend who was skeptical of AI image generation and every prompt they asked me to try wasn't really feasible one shot: (1) an empty frame with MySpace/Y2K aesthetics (functional negative space is hard) in; (2) a step by step guide on how to cook pasta (requires sequential content); (3) Persian calligraphy saying Pizza (words are hard enough, let alone stylised). Cursed requests, but kind of shows how a non-techie would approach this stuff when models aren't really optimised for this out of the box. Many techies aren't particularly good at prompting, but they still have a much better feel for what works/doesn't than your average consumer. I think these intuitions will come with time, but also better products will be built making these edge cases more and more rare. Related: I rarely run into hallucinations with LLMs these days, but that’s partly because I’ve implicitly learned what (not) to ask them. It’s just part of the skillset, like knowing that web search won’t help with “where did I put my glasses?” or “why is my aunt mad at me.”
