We study how vertical (level-focused) & horizontal (field-centred) occupation-education mismatch show distinct patterns and relate to distinct mechanisms among immigrants and descendants: international credential recognition for the former and initial sorting into fields of study for the latter

Using TeO2 data in “Which Degree for Which Occupation,” @rosaweber.bsky.social @mathieuferry.bsky.social & @mathieuichou.bsky.social find immigrants are most likely to experience overeducation while descendants exp. vertical mismatch similar to that of natives. read.dukeupress.edu/demography/a...
